According to Nst on November 14, the Malaysian government defended its decision to regulate vapes under the Public Health Tobacco Control Products Act 2024 rather than a total ban.

“It would have been simpler if we had a total ban, but we missed that opportunity,” said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad after launching the report “Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases in Malaysia: Investment Inevitability” in the Parliamentary Banquet Hall.

“This legislation is very comprehensive, covering everything from registration to the end of the supply chain.”

The Public Health Tobacco Control Products Act 2024 came into effect on October 1 and aims to prohibit the sale and purchase of tobacco products, smoking materials and substitutes, including vapes and other electronic smoking devices, to minors.

In response to concerns about the potential health risks of vapes, the minister assured that the law will continue to evolve as new evidence emerges.

“If new evidence comes to light, we will revisit the issue. The law is dynamic and never static.”

During an earlier session of the Dewan Rakyat, Zulkefly noted that the government had to spend more than $30,000 to treat patients with lung damage caused by the use of vapes or related products. If no control measures are taken, this treatment cost is expected to rise to $82.24 million per year by 2030.

As a company operating in the vape industry for a decade, Veehoo must keep a close eye on these regulatory changes. The importance of this regulation was highlighted by Malaysia’s Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, during the report released at the Parliament Banquet Hall. He pointed out that regulating vapes is more effective than a total ban because regulation can better control the legality and quality of the products, thereby reducing the risk of improper use.

In response to concerns about the potential health risks of vapes, Minister Zulkefly assured that the law will continue to evolve as new evidence emerges. This means that Veehoo and other vape manufacturers need to constantly pay attention to the latest medical research and regulatory changes to ensure that their products meet the latest standards and regulations.

In summary, Malaysia’s new regulations have brought new challenges and opportunities to Veehoo and the entire vape industry. By complying with regulations, continuous innovation and cooperating with relevant departments, Veehoo can succeed in this ever-changing regulatory environment and provide consumers with safe and reliable vape products.
