According to N.News on November 26, the South Korean Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (여가부) reiterated that selling vapes to teenagers may be punished.

The department emphasized that age and identity checks must be conducted when selling vapes. If sold to teenagers, they will be punished according to Article 59 of the Youth Protection Act. Violators may be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of not more than two years or a fine of not more than 20 million won (US$14,000).

“The department is continuously strengthening supervision of online and offline venues, guiding and inspecting vape sellers. It also requested the Korean Electronic Cigarette Association to increase cooperation and jointly promote the implementation of the youth sales ban.”

“Regular age and identity verification tests will be conducted on online sales platforms. If violations are found, rectification orders and other measures will be taken to ensure that minors cannot easily obtain vape products.”
